The Principal Objectives of Our Company


Infrastructure Development and Public Realm

Bunya is responsible for the development of the regional infrastructure and public realm, such as roads, bridges, landscaping, cycle routes, and walkways, and utilities on Al Reem Island. Moreover, Bunya provides services such as operation and maintenance of public assets until taken over by authorities, solid waste management, and 24*7 island wide security.


Monitoring and Regulation

Bunya monitors all development in accordance with the integrated master plan and construction activities, and issues approvals/ permits to work and for events, advertisements, filming, etc., within Al Reem Island.


Master Plan Compliance

Bunya ensures the development of the Island in accordance with the integrated master plan.


Planning and Coordination

* Bunya’s role is to analyse and integrate the master plan of each development on the Island and ensure that all the master plans of the developments are compatible with each other and prepare an integrated master plan for the entire Island so as to ensure that adequate provision is made in the integrated master plan of the Island for community services (schools, hospitals, parks) and emergency services. In addition, Bunya is undertaking island-wide studies like TMP, site-wide fire strategy, and land-water access plan, etc.

Our Overall Operations, Support Services, and Management on Al Reem Island

Bunya’s mandate includes the overall management of Al Reem Island and involves:

Master Planning and Coordination

  • Integrating the master plans of the master developers.
  • Integrating the project schedules of the developers.
  • Assisting master developers in getting the necessary construction permits for their projects and designs.
  • Developing and implementing systems, procedures, and work processes for developers and contractors.

  • Designing and constructing the common infrastructure facilities such as regional roads and bridges, and utility networks (other than those to be constructed by third party service providers in the Island).
  • Development of all Al Reem Island community infrastructure, assets/ services planning, management, coordination, operation, and maintenance, permanently or during the transition period to the authorities.
  • Public realm asset management.

  • To liaise with the relevant government authorities and service providers on the Island to ensure the connection and supply of electricity, water, telecommunication services, and other utilities.
  • Monitoring and reporting the asset damages due to traffic accidents to the authorities for maintenance.
  • Collection and disposal of general and construction waste throughout the island.

  • To ensure the enforcement of all applicable laws and regulations relating to the environment, health, and safety.
  • Safety and security on Al Reem Island 24×7.
  • To regulate and control hoardings and other forms of advertising on the island.
